Studying in Germany vs USA: Which is Better?
Studying in Germany vs USA |
So you are now looking for pursuing your higher studies abroad. First of all congrats. Now that you have decided that big shift so you are looking for the best country for students. In this post, I am going to compare Studying in Germany vs USA. I will focus on topics like study, jobs, part-time jobs, etc.
1. Study: Germany vs USA
Study |
We know that both the USA and Germany have top-notch universities. But the point of difference is their tuition fees. As we know that most of the public German universities don't have a tuition Fee, whereas on the other side the USA has a very high tuition fee (Around $60k for the 2-year course ). It is a huge difference. Rest if the study is compared then as I said before both countries have very good universities.
Also, in Germany, there is one more benefit that you only have to give semester exams, therefore, you are tension free until your exams approach whereas in the USA you have tests, assignments throughout the semester.
So Germany gets 1 point here.
2. Cost of Living: Germany vs USA
Cost of Living |
Cost of living is another factor which will affect your decision in choosing the country. In Germany, it will cost you around 700 euros to 900 euros per month, if you live a normal life. Normal life means you will cook your food mostly, not visit pubs regularly, wash your clothes, etc.
In the USA, it totally depends upon the city, if you are living in the expensive city then you may have to pay around $3k to $5k per month for all your expenses, whereas if you are living in small cities then it will cost you around $2k per month.
3. Part-Time Jobs
Part-Time Job |
In both countries, you are allowed to work for 20hrs per week.
In the USA, the minimum wage is $8 per hour. You can work at a university as a grader, tutor, assistant etc or you can work in cafes, restaurants etc.
In Germany, the minimum wage is 8.85 euros per hour. In Germany also, you can work in and out the universities both.
I have written an article on: How to get a Part-Time Job in Germany
4. Life in Germany vs USA
Life in Germany |
In Germany, the weather is very cold (-4c to 20c), so most of the time you will have to wear a jacket.
whereas in the USA the weather will change as you move, if you go down it will be hot.
Both the country is sports friendly, also there are community festivals in both countries.
5. Jobs after Study
Money |
Both the countries have a good job market. The only demerit of Germany is the language barrier, if you can cross that barrier there will be nothing which can stop you.
I have written an article about: How much you will earn after your masters in Germany?
So I hope that I was able to make the points clear. Please comment down your doubts if you have any.
